Introduction

Delineate is a technology company specializing in always-on consumer tracking. Their platform continuously collects data throughout the day, requiring complex real-time quota management that adapts to live project demands across geographies, and audiences. It makes its clients sharp promises: intelligence in days, not weeks or months; data they can trust; reach, speed and quality across every market; and real expertise behind every project.

The infrastructure powering those promises must hold the same bar – which is why they needed a partner whose technology could meet them where they work: configurable, programmable, and built for their pace. They chose Walr, forming a partnership shaped by technical flexibility, open communication, and a shared commitment to data quality.

The Challenge

Delineate Proximity™ is used to power always-on brand and campaign trackers, run on a daily cadence. Setting, adjusting, and monitoring quotas across more than 130 markets is a continuous operation – not a periodic one. At that scale, every manual step and every inefficiency multiplies fast.

Manual configuration through a platform UI wasn’t possible at that volume or frequency. Delineate needed programmatic control: the ability to manage projects by machine, directly via API, without additional touchpoints slowing the process down.

The brief was clear. They needed a new lead panel provider, one that could handle advanced requirements. They weren’t looking for a transactional relationship, but a true integration partner – one who would build with them, not just sell to them.

How Walr Sets Delineate Up for Success

Starting with transparency

Rather than open with a sales conversation or a scoping document, both teams agreed to meet face-to-face for a technical deep-dive. Technical documentation was shared in advance so the session could focus on substance: how each side worked, where the friction points sat, and an honest reflection of current limitations.

Both companies came prepared to share not just capabilities, but also constraints. That openness set the tone for everything that followed.

Connectivity and an API built around their workflow

The Walr Buyer API covered around 80% of the Delineate requirements out of the box. The remaining 20%, specific quota management functionality their always-on model depended on, Walr built.

Rather than asking Delineate to adapt their workflow to fit existing platform capabilities, Walr extended the API surface to support their real-world requirements. The integration was treated as a joint product investment, not a one-off custom build. This willingness to flex was the deciding factor. It also protected what Delineate prides itself on: speed. Programmatic control means projects and quotas move at the pace of live client campaigns – so insight still lands in days, not weeks or months.

Quality as an integral thread not an afterthought

Quality is a key part of the Delineate promise to its customers. Walr identifies and removes poor-quality respondents in real time and builds carefully balanced quotas rather than chasing volume – this aligns with the Delineate quality management approach and the end result for clients is the highest quality data, delivered in real-time.

Communication that kept the work moving

Complex integrations don’t fail on code. They fail on communication. Walr made communication structure a first deliverable, not an afterthought.

The integration ran on three forms of communication:

  1. Dedicated channels connecting the integration teams in real time – acting as one team with full transparency.
  2. Direct product-to-product and developer-to-developer lines for fast technical decisions – no escalation overhead and development delays.
  3. Regular meetings to cover delivery status, recurring themes, and the larger strategic questions that emerged as the integration matured – where management needed to make decisions, they could.

This multi-layered communication structure meant the right conversation could happen at the right level – tactical fixes by messages, strategic alignment in scheduled sessions.

A complementary workstream to protect the data

Changing partners for always-on trackers carries real risk to client data: any disruption to sample composition or panel mix can create discontinuities, which undermines the value of the tracker itself.

A joint Delineate and Walr professional services team ran parallel studies throughout the integration period to understand any differences in panel blend, to ensure continuity. This parallel workstream meant Delineate could migrate to the API-driven model with confidence that the underlying data would remain stable and comparable across the transition.

Brought in audience expertise at the right moment

As the integration approached completion, Walr’s audience leads joined the team to focus on rollout and implementation. This handover – from build mode to operate mode – was deliberately staged. The engineering integration was one half of the work; embedding it into both businesses’ day-to-day operating rhythm was the other half and required different expertise.

This is the part technology alone can’t cover. Walr’s “human-in-the-loop” model is on hand 24/7/365, which means there are always real experts behind the data – never software left to run on its own.

What made it work

Three things worked in tandem to make this partnership a success:

  1. Flexibility on the supply side. Walr’s willingness to extend the API to fit the Delineate real-world requirements, rather than push the client towards generic functionality, meant the integration solved the actual problem.
  2. Communication discipline. Dedicated channels, peer-to-peer lines, and scheduled strategic check-ins kept the work moving at pace and surfaced issues before they became blockers.
  3. A full-stack offer. The combination of API-driven sample, professional services to run parallel tracking, and audience expertise for rollout, meant Delineate had a single partner across the lifecycle of the migration, not three separate vendors to coordinate.

What comes next?

The integration is live, and ongoing optimizations are being made to continue delivering quality sample at global scale. The same open channels of communication and agile development that defined the build phase now define the operate phase.

The relationship has moved from project to partnership.

“Gaining access to Walr’s audience network and technology continues to strengthen the infrastructure behind our products. At the heart of everything we do at Delineate is an absolute commitment to data quality – our clients depend on the accuracy of the signals we deliver to make their most consequential brand decisions. This partnership directly reinforces that. We can continue to grow at pace without compromising on the standards our clients rightly expect.”
